About Jim

Hello!

My name is James (but most people call me Jim). I am entering my final year in the Master of Arts in Community Counseling at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. I am also co-chair of the social justice section of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP).

The therapeutic journey is one that many people are travelling. Each of us has a view of what we would like the destination to look like, although seeing that destination and achieving that destination are often two separate challenges. At times, the disconnect between these two thoughts can be overwhelming.

Our therapeutic journey will be taken together as a team (I believe that we are all stronger together. We all function better when we have connection. Each of us has the strength within us to make progress toward that ideal goal. Our work will focus on finding and enhancing skills that you already possess. I strive to provide a safe and understanding environment for the exploration that you are considering. I have a broad view of psychological theory, which means that I will look for more than one way to approach a challenge with you. If one way does not help for you, there are other methods to look at.

I am interested in most areas of counseling, but have particular interest in

● Chronic Illness

● Social Interest

● Social Justice

● Self Image/Private logic

● Behavioral motivations

● Telehealth sessions

● Popular culture as it relates to psychology

● Anxiety

● Esteem/self/worth

I am thrilled that you are here. Your reading this indicates that you have already started on your way toward resolving your challenges. I am prepared to step in next to you and accompany you for as much of your journey as you need!
